This is a movie I first saw when I was attending Frank Robinson’s safety course in Torrance, California. I flew the Robinson R22 back then and Frank - the inventor of the R22 - continuously warned his students that “most helicopters accidents” were caused by human error.

An airplane pilot with no prior helicopter experience tries to prove that flying helicopters is as easy as flying an airplane. So he buys a helicopter (a Hughes 269B model) and tries to fly it.
What follows is a pretty spectacular - and expensive - crash which happened on April 26, 1987 in Rubidoux, California. (For more details, here’s the NTSB report)
