Fly Around Like the Jetsons

According to Troy Widgery, founder of JetPack International, anyone who is willing to spend $200,000 US will be able to buy a personal jetpack and fly around like the Jetsons within a year.

Jetpacks – or rocketbelts – have a rather simple propulsion system. A control valve pushes Hydrogen Peroxide across a silver catalyst bed, breaking it into steam and oxygen which produces a jet stream of superheated air.

That stream of superheated air lasts for about 33 seconds, so you won’t be able to commute to work. But you sure will impress your family and friends (a typical jet pack is louder than the Concorde).
